My mom first started relaxing my hair when I was younger, as part of the effort to untangle my hair after having box braids all summer. She was the only person to ever relax it until I finally took over in high school. I actually started to do my sisters’ hair before I did my own, because it was so much easier to work on someone else vs yourself. Until I went to college, I always thought of salons as places you go to prepare for a special occasion… not as a place that you visit often, every time you want your hair washed/styled/relaxed etc. I also had no idea how much money women spend on their hair, especially when compared to how much less they could be spending by just doing it themselves. I decided to do this tutorial to show others how easy it is to give yourself a $80 (or $60 or $45, whatever) relaxer at home for much, much less. So grab some gloves and a relaxer kit, because this is EASY!
