The first time I tried to cut Jack’s nails, I was very nervous and chickened out without cutting a thing. The first time I successfully cut Jack’s nails, I spread it out over a 3-day period, only cutting a single nail at a time. I still cringe a little everytime I snip, but I’m proud to say that the whole thing doesn’t take more than 10 minutes… That’s a pretty big improvement over 72 hours! This is the first video I’ve done for my new channel, but stay tuned for a bunch more to come! I currently have 2 or 3 BunnyBasics videos still in iMovie limbo, waiting for voiceovers, I’ll get to them eventually (lol)
2. Not all rabbits will lie quietly on their backs like this. Rather than forcing your bunny into a position neither of you is comfortable with, find another, secure way to hold him/her that’s comfortable for both of you.
3. If you have a rabbit with opaque (you can’t see through them) nails and you aren’t able to see the quick, take only a little off each nail, and trim them every other week.
4. It isn’t necessary to cut your rabbit’s nails all at once, particularly if it’s a stressful situation at first. Take it slow, and spread out the manicure (lol) over a couple of hours, or days.
5. The purpose of the nail file is just to gently get rid of any rough edges. Don’t try to get them perfect =)
