I relax my hair every 4-6 weeks (especially during the summer) because my hair grows quickly, and the new growth doesn't play well with humidity/heat. One question I get asked pretty frequently is how to identify new growth when doing a touch-up relaxer, so I took a couple pictures to illustrate. It's easiest to see when your hair is straight - if you air dry you might be able to tell the difference, but the two textures (unprocessed roots & the relaxed shaft) also might blend together. This is 4 weeks' worth of growth (highlighted yellow in the close-up view on the right), but you can see 12 weeks' worth vs freshly relaxed roots here.
