Hey Lauren, do you experience a lot of breakage with this relaxer? I recently started relaxing my hair after a 3 year break and I am shedding a lot. any tips on how to minimize that? LOVE your hair.
Hi Lauren. Great hair btw 🙂 My hair used to be long ,healthy and thick just like yours. I used to simply get a wash and set and wrap at the salon….never did blowdry. After a while I decided that ill try blowdrying, I got hooked but now my hair has broken off BADLY. It lost his moisture and texture, it literally feels bodiless and strawy. I even had to cut my hair very short. Ive tried some products but nothing is working, how do you get you hair so straight without blowdrying it. I think im in deep of a good protein treatment because its bad and I really need my hair back. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP LOLZ. Thanks for taking the time to read this and have great day 🙂
Thank you =)
It sounds like all the brushing required for a blowout is really taking a toll on your hair. I’m a big believer in listening to what your hair tells you, so I would switch back to wash & sets. I know it’s less convenient, but you can even learn how to do them at home to save money/time. I’d also deep condition with Garnier 3 Minute Undo – it works WONDERS on hair that feels like straw =) Lastly, I’d switch to a really moisturizing shampoo + conditioner – I like MoroccanOil’s Moisture Repair line, but Aussie Moist is a great alternative if you’re on a budget =)
please let me know what kind of shampo may i used after relaxed my hair. Thank you
I like to use moisturizing/strengthening shampoos – favorites are Carol’s Daughter Monoi shampoo or Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition shampoo (creamy formula, not the clear one)
Hi Lauren! I’ll be starting my junior year in highschool soon and I’m tryin to get my hair together so I just wanted to know how long it took you to see these results? And also, do you take any supplements for your hair? You probably have a blog about that but I just found your website and im alittle lost lol
I don’t take supplements – I’m really bad at doing anything on a daily basis & would probably forget! It takes my hair 6-7 months to grow from armpit length to bra-strap length. Here’s a before/after shot of my hair in October 2013 when I got it trimmed from bra-strap length to armpit length:
And here’s my hair in June 2014 when I got it trimmed again:

Hey i know you don’ t know me but can you please help me with my hair problem. I really want to grow it out while it is relaxed. My hair is stiff and not the best shape. I have been struggling with this for three years and I don’t know what to do. Can you please contact me with my email fo help? firstname.lastname@example.org
I just wanted to know how long do you leave the relaxer for cuz 20 minutes didn’t work on me.. ive got thick hair but less then African hair still it didn’t do what i was expecting ive watched your video but maybe i did something wrong. Please let me know how long you can keep the relaxer in for as im a bit scared to used it longer.
What strength did you use? It may be better for you to try super vs regular strangth – I don’t leave it on any one section for longer than 10-15 minutes before rinsing & neutralizing.
Hi lauren everythjn sounds really gud! Im goin to start to follow ur hair washin regime normally i go hairdressers to wash as i never get salon results! Quick question my hair grows fast after two weeks i get hair regrowth n after 4 weeks it def needs doin agen do its gud to kno u relax urs every 4 weeks sumtimes im thinkin of touchin up the routes slightly not all over the bits thar seemed to av grown out fast what do u think? Thanks
I would leave the parts that have grown out quickly alone, and just relax all over every 4-6 weeks. I usually start seeing new growth after 2 weeks too, but just relax everything after 4-6 weeks.
Hope that helps!
I really want to thank you my hair has not been the same it lost its moisture, length, it had no body or bounce, it felt as dry as straw but since watching your tutorial and using the products it feel as soft a satin it says moisturized for more than a week it has bounce and body my hair has been brought back to life thanks again :)!
So glad to hear that!! Congrats on your results =)
Hi Lauren! 😉 It does help. Thanks so much for responding. I think that your unconventional techniques are great! I’ll definitely keep watching your tutorials. xx
Your hair is so pretty! 🙂 Do you relax it bone straight or are you texlaxed? Also, I read that you wash each section after applying the relaxer. Do you apply to one quadrant and wash or do you apply to the top half and wash before moving on to the bottom?
I don’t relax bone-straight, when my hair air dries it grows in all directions lol!
I usually relax the front half, neutralize/rinse, then move to the back. When I’m done applying to the back, I just jump in the shower and neutralize my whole head.
recently i go to parlour and say i wann to relex my hair the girl say which type of rtelexing u want i have no answer kindly plzzz help me i wamm my hair jist like u.. your hair is soo pretty <3 plzzz help me,,
Thank you! Replied to your facebook message =)
Do you have any problem with the water dripping from the front of your head to the back after you relax and wash it in sections? You are so beautiful and I’ve been a long time follower! Thanks for answering 🙂
Not really – I make sure to squeeze out my hair and then put it up in a bun, and the water doesn’t drip much. If it does, it doesn’t affect the efficacy of the relaxer very much =)
Thank you SO MUCH! <3
When you get into the shower, how do you prevent the back of your head from getting wet? Or do you just relax that part regardless of it being wet?
I have a hose attachement in my shower, so I just lean over the side of the tub and focus the spray on the part I’m rinsing =)
Your hair always looks fabulous 😀 Love!
I love your hair …. this is very nice.but i cant find this product in sri lanka..i want a get my hair done like yours lauren.. great work girl
