When I last left off, I had sketched, planned, and purchased materials for my new vanity. Once everything was together, actually building it didn't take long at all! After assembling the table legs with the pipes & fittings, I screwed them into the wall on either side of the mirror. One side went into a wood stud (which I didn't even know we had behind our walls - good to know), and the other side got wall anchors. I just got a Black & Decker jigsaw last weekend, and used it to cut a notch in the back of the Ikea shelf I found in the as-is section for $5 (I used tape to protect the finish while I cut with the saw - when I was done I took off the tape and there weren't any chips or anything). All I have to do now is paint the exposed edges & maybe attach the top to the legs with pipe clips. The end caps keep the top in place pretty well on their own, and I like that I can take the top off the legs if I need to. The butler stand/mirror tray will be re-purposed into a place for my boyfriend to keep his manly accessories, or a mini bar when we have guests over. I'm very happy with how it turned out - definitely more suited to the space/purpose.
